Courts have been avoiding swearing fealty to Elfhame by hiding their heirs as changelings in the mortal world. This way, the heirs will grow up outside of Elfhame’s reach, and return to their courts to rule without having pledged their loyalty. The Court of Teeth and Queen Suren is an example of this.
